Wedding Minutia

The little stuff is turning out to be the most stressful part of wedding planning:

Registry: I cannot find a place that has an online registry in both Italian and English. The one place that has it that I found, does not carry the china pattern we picked.

Testimonies/Witnesses: FMIL is nagging about having C's uncle and sister as witnesses for ( Read more... )

What all are you registering for? Sorry if I missed that somewhere. I am just assuming you are doing the china/crystal/silver thing.

What if you did half your reg. from a US site and the other half from an Italian site? Or what if you did word of mouth as to what your patterns were? What about local customs - you say they don't really shop online in IT, so what if those people know to just go to the V&B store? Hrm...

Yup, china, silver, and I am undecided about the crystal. The reason for that is bc we already started our crystal collection when we were in Croatia 4 years ago. The brand, Rogaska, is from Slovenia and is therefore dirt cheap in Croatia. I think we paid like $10 per glass. Here in Milan, the same exact crystal is about $30-$35/glass... so I am thinking of just ordering the rest from the store in Croatia and either having them ship it or just pick it up (it's 5 hrs from here ( ... )

Keith has a Canon printer and it's excellent! What is a witness? I am gonna need you as my "Catholic informer"! I don't know anything about Catholic wedding ceremonies. I am enjoying reading and learning from you.

Witness=attendant more or less. In the US, you have lots of attendents but the only one that actually signs the certificate is the MOH and the Best Man I think. That's what make them the MOH and Best Man basically. Not here... everyone signs it here, hence no real need to an official MOH and Best Man, other than the fact that they are the ones who get shafted with most of the brunt work (shower, bachelor party, etc).

That Canon printer is what I'm drooling over right now......

I think it's totally cool about having all the attendants sign the wedding certificate. That way everyone is "special." Wait, I see how this can only add to the problem of having FSIL be in the wedding party.
