Ack! Those are terrible!!! What in the world would make someone think an entire set of those would make a good gift?!

I dunno... but now you know what to expect :p. She keeps going on to FMIL about what a beautiful set it is. FMIL keeps telling me to lie to her but I can't say anything better than they're "cute". I know that's really horrible and ungrateful sounding, but I also don't like to blatantly lie... plus if she thinks I like them she might go buy more pieces for future gifts!

The bowls look ok from the top view, but there seems to be a lot of orange going on in general...

I agree that mostly I just can't believe someone would buy you an entire set rather than just a platter or set of bowls or something. It's at the same time generous so that you have to feel guilty about your feelings, and yet also way more logistically annoying to deal with!

I could not have said it better. I agree... the bowls could be ok, but the plates are just horrendous. And I'd rather get rid of the whole thing and not keep pieces (they're all on my ugly list anyway).

You know, a lot of people have asked me this. I don't know. I suppose it could be... I've never seen her house so I don't know what decorating style she goes for. But it is a very "italian" design IMO.

Those are SO italian! Good lord! I swear Guido's mom has stuff like that - or at least has things that coordinate.

Ah, well, it happens. Did you ever find out how much they cost or are they lucky enough to be one of a kind ;)

No idea... I am guessing 300-400 euro for the set. given they are close family and it's coming from both her and her dad's family.
