Dress update
I spent the weekend half in tears bc I was convinced I was going to hate, hate, hate my dress. I even toyed with the idea of commissioning Gigi to do something really fast for me. It would have sent me to the BK lawyer and he would have been screaming "see, I told you so!" but I was willing to deal. I was sooo mopey all weekend. I figured I'd give it till Monday to see if anything changed dramatically.
Fortunateley the dress is in much better shape now. I thought it was supposed to be more or less done (which I guess it is... but it needs to be taken in again). Another couple inches needs to come off the bodice (see pic below) and the insert in the back needs to be finished off (you can see where she attached the pearly boarder right now... it needs to be tucked under the pearls and tacked). The sleeves are being narrowed.
Here you can see how much it needs to come in still. The front is much better now that the ruching is in and now that it's more fitted (the ruching won't stay in unless it's fitted obviously... it needs the tension to show up):
There is a crumbcatcher neckline where the pin is, but when she took in the side, the pin got pulled down and basically made the "shelf" fall out.

How it looks when I walk (you can sort of see the mermaid silhoette but it will look more defined once the bodice is taken in since the skirt gets taken in with the bodice):
So... accessories...
The pearls I have on in these photos are FGMIL's pearls that she just gave to me as a wedding present. The earrings I am wearing are my great-grandmother's. I like the history of the pearls but I still don't know if I want to wear them. Here in Italy they say pearls mean tears. In general, pearls are always paired with diamonds here bc diamonds mean smiles. I am not a superstitious person in general, but that's a lot of tears, you know? Anyway I think the pearls are too long... I think in past pictures I am wearing my own pearls. That strand is shorter but they are larger... too large IMO. So... I have a couple other options:
1) wear a single pearl drop that I got for free when I started my registry at the dept store. I can take a pic and show you all but basically it's one pearl on a thin white gold chain. The pearl is topped off by a minuscule diamond. There are matching earrings.
2) wear no necklace and get some fantastic chandalier earrings.
3) start looking for another necklace and different earrings.
I also need a silver purse. I suppose I could go with ivory but I figured I will use silver more in the future and there is silver in the beadwork and on my veil. I have no idea where to get this... I should have looked on ebay or something. Now I need to look around Milan and probably pay a fortune.
