Another cross-post. Sorry.

People standing against the TSA's unreasonable search policies are being internally referred to as domestic extremists now.

Oh, hell no.

What will they do with the list? Just wave it around and say "We're watching you?" Put all protestors on the "no fly" list?

I can't picture everyone on the list being sent to internment camps or something like that. If that were actually going to happen, Bush would have done something like that a long time ago with all the people involved in the antiwar movement.

(Rumors about FEMA concentration camps for dissenters have been circulating since the Clinton era at least.)

I wonder how they will differentiate between the "extremists" and people who have a legitimate health concern.

I guess having a skin condition makes me an extremist. For the first time, terrorism is medically diagnosable! Huzzah! We're all saved!

I cannot help but question the motivations (and reliability) of the source for that original article, considering it is posted on a site with a counter for "Days Until Obama Leaves Office", and the information boils down to "this unnamed internal source told me..."

That is why I am hoping someone will leak the document - so we at least have a chance of verifying its veracity.

I have this feeling that if a lot of people opt out of the scanners, the security agents may react by moving them over to a separate line and making them wait so long to be processed/patted down that they risk missing their flights, to deter other people from doing the same.
