Lies and Consequences

Both living as a normal and being on the run as a discovered telepath is in essence one lie after another. Pretending you’re something you’re not. Taking jobs you don’t like in order to survive. Never show when you very well know someone else is lying to you ( Read more... )

I-I'm sorry you were forced to live that way- forced to do... what you did. Do many...? Are many Human telepaths facing the same difficulties?

Yes, they do, and much more besides. As a human telepath, you basically have three options: you either join Psi Corps, or you get drugged out of your abilities for the rest of your life, or you run, become an outlaw, which means poverty and illegal jobs, if any. And that was true long before Clark came to power; it was the law as decided by a legally and democratically elected Senate and President, reinforced by every Senate since, that made us an apartheid state as far as telepaths are concerned. And yes, I'm still bitter about it ( ... )

On my world, traders and politicians have always sought out telepaths for their services... and most are generally respected as useful allies at least. And some telepaths, like the Lidara, are greatly honored. What was it that made your government decide to pass the laws you describe? Why is there tension on your world between those who are telepathic and those who aren't? I-I'm afraid I'm not very familiar with that period of Human history.

You mentioned... you said you wished you could transport all the telepaths away from this universe. What if... what if I could find a way to make that happen... at least for some? Where would I find these... blips... to tell them there might be a way?

Perhaps it needs several centuries for a culture to accept and integrate telepaths. Ours is not as old as yours, I'm afraid. The existance of telepaths was only confirmed for the first time a little less than a century ago, and then there were mass riots and some truly ugly events until the metasensory committee established what became the Psi Corps.

If you could help some telepaths to safety - that would be wonderful! There are quite a lot of blips in Brown Sector, I think, though I can only go by what reports I have access to through the station's computer system - I never saw the station with my own eyes, except for medlab, of course. Dr. Franklin would know for sure, because according to Michael Garibaldi's files, he ran an underground railroad for rogue telepaths for a while, before the station seceeded from Earth.

*embarrassed and very grateful at the same time*Err... would you mind not mentioning this to the ambassador? Because I'm pretty sure Al will scan him when they meet, just to be on the safe side; he's the paranoid ( ... )
