Firstly, I never talked to Faith. Secondly, Buffy and I aren't on meme terms, either. And thirdly, Jean is on my list. Connor is not talking to me right now.

Reading this evokes an odd mixture of emotions in Darla. Guilt over Lex Luthor isn't one of them. Her son's reaction was keeping her concerned, but that had not been a surprise; after all, she had known Connor was her Achilles heel since acknowledging that she loved him. On the other hand, she had not been aware she gave a damm about what Harry Osborn thought about her one way or the other. Having a soft spot for him had been one thing, though that would not have prevented her to go further than just one unpleasant dream if Connor and Kara had not both cared for him so much back then. There were some other people she liked, but she still could shrug them off without a problem if she needed to. Claiming him as family, which she had done around the time he had been in a mental asylum was a step further, but she had still not expected the consequences of that claim to cut both ways.

Because he had actually managed to find a vulnerable spot to exploit with his words. Which was, of course, the sense of having failed Kara as a surrogate ( ... )
