Spring cleaning

It's time to do a little pruning of the friends list.

Nothing personal, it's just time to slender the list down so that  it involves people that actually update and ones I want to keep updated.

if we see this does it mean we are about to be pruned or made the cut? and is that a mixed metaphor?

'Tis the question, isn't it?

Right now, everyone on my friends list can see this post... I just wanted to put it out there before I got out the clippers...

I was at a party the other day and someone was asking why people do this. The pruning of the friends list. I didn't have a good answer, other than some folks like to de-clutter and simplify every now and then. What's your take? I've done it and am thinking of doing it again, but hate the part where people potentially get feelings hurt. (And I've been cut before too so I understand how that can be oddly uncomfy from both sides.) Oh LJ how we love your idiosyncracies.

I don't get why people's feelings get hurt, if you ask me. I mean, unless they're active posters, and interact with the LJ person who's pruning, is there any need for "explanations" ?

I mean, if tman pruned me out, I wouldn't blame him. I met him once, and I barely post on his LJ (or read it). In fact, I skim 90% of what's out there, depending on my dedication to reading other's LJ's (no hard feelings, Spenc! LOL)

*shrug* damned if you do, damned if you don't I guess.

yeah, I totally get it too. I go through different phases of how open/how much I want to share and with whom

I try to be very very careful about adding folks in the first place so I don't get to that point...

ditto that open-ness. and if I added everyone who was a friend of a friend or that I had met once or twice, I'd lose all my closer friends' posts in the fray.

it's early, so apologies if that post makes no sense. lol

I get the pruning thing. I've been on both sides of this.

I also appreciate that these lovely other posters can discuss. :)

I hope you'll keep me as I like you and with the distance I feel like this our chance to get to know each other better. I know I don't post much but I always read and reply when I feel my contribution is relevant. I'm in many communities here and ALWAYS look forward to reading my friends posts... I'd rather sift thru the communities to find my friends.

Anyway, thas my 2cents.

Something about a Superman with a can of Lysol is just heavenly. :)
