Overwhelming nerdiness...

So me and my boyfriend are totally hooking up Heroes Con this weekend, a nerdfest for crazy comic book lovers. I'm definitely a comic book lover, but I kind of love it more for the pictures than the words. I sound like a 3 year old. But see the thing is, I just never find the time to read the things I want to. I would love it if time would stand ( Read more... )

No, I am Sue. Joan is old friend of hub's who creates/owns her own game company --she does the whole East Coast comic convention circuit. Great sense of humor, very intelligent. Recommend 'well-written' smut and become her friend :)

Ah, gotcha. I actually wondered about that because of the "Sue" in your name :) I will look for her and check it out if we can! Thanks!

An editor at Entertainment Weekly I used to work with right after college will be there and is meeting up with anyone who wants a drink with someone who's paid to go to these things ;-)

Oh crazy. So he just wants to talk to people who paid for the Con you mean?

I worded my comment in a ridiculous manner. He's paid to go, but he's up for drinks with anyone who's interested. He put it on Twitter and FB. He likes to chat with hardcore fans who, unlike him, aren't paid to go to these cons.

Super damn sexy illustration style!!!
*longs for with grabby hands*
you were asking the other day about wall art and I was actually digging around for some ideas (and got completely side tracked) but one thought was if you like graphic novels, maybe color copying several pages and framing them in a grouping of like nine identical frames. Kind of a cheap, cool way to cover a wall. I was going to recommend a strange old comic, written by Neil Gaiman and drawn by Dave McKean called, "The Tragical Comedy or Comical Tragedy of Mr. Punch."
ALSO! Finally saw "let the right one in" this weekend. Spouse and I LOVED it. Totally fresh take on vampirism, and it sits right on the edge of utter innocence, menace, and the earlist glimpses of sexual curiosity. ...also, love the idea of that character truly being a twelve year old, who's been twelve a very long time. It's as though the character is still processing life as a child. What a hard age to remain forever. Anyway, it was a great remix of classic lore.

Oh cool. Yeah, I love Neil Gaiman's stuff. I really want to read Sandman. My friend is really into it and swears it's amazing. The art is great and Mr. Punch reminds me of that now that I'm looking at it. Will add it to the to do list ( ... )
