Everybody's Favourites Part 1

Jun 10, 2010 10:20

So I thought it might be fun to talk about our favourite things, some random, some HP, some film or music related, etc.

I think "top 3s" would work well for the most part. There are some things that you can't just list one for.

Let's get started, shall we?

Top 3 favourite films:
1. Moulin Rouge
2. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
3. Donnie Darko

My boyfriend would applaud you for Doctor Strangelove. I'm a big fan too :) Love that you included DH1 and 2. I considered doing that myself. I almost put "DH MTV Movie Awards Trailer" in my top 3 films. haha

Nice idea to do 'top 3 Rons'. Shouldda thought of that ;)

Nice! I am ashamed to say that I haven't seen The Notebook yet :( My love for Ryan Gosling should dictate that I stop whatever I'm doing and make it happen immediately...

I go back and forth on whether I prefer GoF or PoA as a film. And I totally understand your selection of "Charlie". Love him too.

I bow down to Ryan Gosling... I was just telling wordsmithsonian last night that she needs to see "Half Nelson" immediately.

I'm adding another

3 Least favorite HP cahracters
1. ALL Malfoys (especially when they are paired with Potters/Weasleys)
2. Lavender (people give her and Ron's relationship a lot more depth than it had in the books and that is annoying)
3. Snape (He protected Harry but WAS ALSO A HUGE ASSHOLE TO HIM THE WHOLE TIME BECAUSE OF WHO IS DAD IS!)

Nice. I wish I had gotten the experience of seeing SS with everyone else, all the excitement after reading the books and starting to fall in love... but I didn't start really getting into it until GoF (the FILM) came out... sadly.

I totally agree about Lavender/Ron. I don't understand why people turn that into a relationship that had any substance at all. It was totally superficial and shallow and should be treated as such.

I have to say, even though Snape sucked a lot of the time, that's kind of why I love him... or part of the reason. He was a lot more complex than originally assumed, so that made him really intriguing and interesting.

However, nothing will ever make me feel that way about Draco. I love that he hesitated to identify Harry/Hermione/Ron during Malfoy Manor, but not because I thought he had turned good. He was a confused person, but he was still a really nasty coward who deserved to suffer. His parents can rot in Azkaban, thanks. haha

Hey I didnt get into it until OOTP film came out! But even as a 20 something the first movie was just so damn exciting! HAHA!

Snape is a very interesting character and his backstory broke my heart, but man he was just still such an asshole. Hehe

Ah, gotcha. We watched GoF, then the next morning had a 'first three' marathon at my bf's house. I was so excited watching them that time around, so I guess I did sort of get my moment too. hehe

And yeah, he's an asshole for sure... really no matter how you look at it.

DAMN. NIIIIIIICE.

I could go on about films for the rest of life.

ALL WES ANDERSON. CITY OF LOST CHILDERN. ALL COEN BROS. PULP FICTION FTW!!

Did you get to see Nightmare when it was re-released in 3D?? Had a blast at that screening.

Agreed about Pan's, City of God, Memento and Clockwork going into that "love but can't just pop on at random" category.

I am the same way as you, arrived late to HP, but I had my epiphany with GoF simply because I didn't watch the first three in order even!

Agreed 100% about DH trailer... I commented about how I considered putting that... hm...

*runs to make correction*

Lol, thanks dear :)
to paraphrase Shoc, I am a film-based lifeform. I love seeing movies more than drawing, and quite possibly more than eating.
