Rules for Submission - Ficlet Challenges
  1. All submissions will be taken as comments to the individual prompt posts.  Please continue reading for details on the requested format for submissions.
  2. Submissions must be new and written for each challenge.  Submissions cannot be released to the public until after voting has closed and the winners of the round announced.
  3. Members are only allowed to enter one (1) submission per prompt.
  4. Submissions should be at least 500 words and no longer than 750 words in length.  If you are unsure about the length of your ficlet, you can use the Cut & Paste Word Count site.
  5. Please be aware that this is a family-friendly community.  While there will be no stated maximum rating, be mindful of the fact that minors may be reading and voting.
  6. If you make a mistake, you can resubmit until the challenge deadline.  Because comments are screened, you will either need to edit the comment (paid users) or delete and post a new comment (plus and basic users).

How to Post Your Ficlet

You've got your entry written, proof-read, and edited and it's ready to go.  Great!  Now you need to submit it.  But you can't make a new entry in the community for it.  This is because we handle all entries and submissions through screened comments to keep it anonymous until the end of voting.  Go to the prompt post and follow this procedure.
  1. Step One - Title
    • In the Subject box, type the title, characters or pairings, rating, and any warnings.  The format should be something like this:
    • "Beautiful Disaster" (Cain/DG, R, Character Death) (screenshot)
    • Please note that comment subjects are limited to 100 characters.  If you can't fit everything in the subject box, include the characters or pairings, rating, and any warnings as the first line of your entry.
  2. Step Two - Content and Formatting
    • After you have your title set in the Subject box, copy your entry into the Message box (screenshot).  Please note that the Rich Text formatting editor is not available for comments.  If you have italics, bolded text, or other special formatting, you will need to enter it manually.  Below are a few common formatting HTML tags that are supported by  LiveJournal comments.
      • Italics: Your text here.
      • Bold: Your text here.
      • Centering: Your text here.
    • When your comment is posted, the proper formatting will show.  I will copy your formatting in the voting post.
  3. Step Three - Preview and Submit
    • Before submitting your ficlet, be sure to click the Preview buttion (screenshot).  This will show you what your ficlet is going to look like.  Be sure to double-check all of your formatting and do one final proof-reading before you click the Submit button (screenshot).  If you make any changes before submitting, you can click the Preview button again to make sure that your changes are correct.
Once your ficlet is submitted, it should look like the example below. If it does not, please contact me at the Page-A-Mod entry.
