We need to talk about our health system

I wonder how many moments are more uncomfortable and worrisome than going to see a doctor. I don't think many. When you go see a doctor, you usually have something going on, something on your mind that you want to have checked, something wrong in your body.

When I hear the term "family doctor", the first idea that comes to mind, is a professional ( Read more... )

What the hell that's so annoying?? Why wouldn't he listen to you? Why didn't he prescribe anything for your headaches or come up with some treatment plan? Is there anywhere you can go for a second opinion?

Yup, I don't know. At least I left there with a referral to a Neurologist, who might actually help with the migraines... And I'm definitely looking for a new doctor!!!

"if you have any issue, call me before calling your lawyer"

^ I kind of wonder if that's the problem... that doctors are so scared of being sued that they don't do their jobs the way they're supposed to? idk. Can you find a different family doctor? Or go to a walk-in clinic? Hopefully you're OK anyway, but this sounds a bit... not ideal :( Good luck!

That's what I thought too! People here are so afraid of being sued that it feels like they rather do something more superficially than taking the risk and doing anything for real! It must be exhausting to live like that! Or to work like that!!!
I'm trying to find a new family doctor, with a different approach and I hope this will do the trick!!! Thank you!!! I hope I get it right this time!!! :)

It's so hard finding a decent doctor... it's taken me ages to find mine but I can relate to the struggle. Just like finding a decent psychiatrist!

I got a reminder recently of how crap doctors can be when I had a really sore jaw and throat and thought I was getting a throat infection.... because it was a sunday, I had to go to a different doctor who was so unbelievable crap that he just handed over a course of antibiotics without asking any questions or anything. Then he charged me $50 for basically doing nothing. He didn't even look in my ears!

Don't give up on finding a decent doctor - you'll find one! I think asking for recommendations is a good strategy. Word of mouth is fab. *hugs* hang in there and keep us posted. xxx

I was lucky with my therapists in my life... But I know how hard it can be to find someone we click with!
I won't give up! I think I need to find someone that sees things in a more holistic way, maybe that might work better for me... 🤞🏼
