The BF and I hit the beach last wednesday. I sunscreened up to avoid a debacle like the renfest sunburn from two years ago. BF eschewed sunscreen to even himself out from his farmer's tan. I had sun poisoning once. I spent the day lying next to the pool, wearing a full length caftan, which apparently was not sun-proof. I spent that night shivering and red as a lobster -- taking cold showers, crying, eating aspirin like it was candy, and (it was a motel) filling the ice bucket, adding water, and sitting all swaddled up on the bed, dipping a cup into the ice water and guzzling it.

I think I went through 4 ice buckets of ice water.

Got a real nice tan out of it, though. And lots and lots of peeling, but mine came off in sheets.

A friend of mine did the exact same thing. She's a pale red-head, and she gave herself one mighty dangerous sunburn in Key West in the late 70's. She did the same as you, right down to the motel ice bucket. I was so squiffed out I don't even remember if she tanned afters or not. *lol*

My husband peeled like that a couple of years ago after a massive allergic reaction to a medication...I think we're still getting the last of it out of the bedroom carpet. He completely lost the calluses on his feet to this thing. It was insane.
