How much bio do you have to know to do well in biochemistry? I've had not a lick of bio since Ms. Wu in freshman year... but am very well versed in organic chemistry.
Very little biology was assumed outright in the biochemistry course I took. Rather, we redid various biological topics with a much greater emphasis on understanding the underlying chemistry. You should do quite well given your strong organic chemistry background. You can look forward to seeing lots of catalytic mechanisms, regulatory motifs in the central dogma, and much carbonyl and thioester chemistry in the form of redox reactions generally driven by the expenditure of often phosphorylated, energy-rich intermediates.
Hey this is Mary Anne - I saw your post in Alice's LJ. I didn't know you had a livejournal! I have one, but I haven't written in it in over a year. I basically use it to read other people's LJs and get updated on my guilty pleasure, America's Next Top Model. How has everything been going with you and what are you plans for the summer?
