Odd, how things go...

I'd stopped posting to this LJ a while ago. I'm amazed at how many of my LJ friend's pages have been inactive for a year or more. Is it just me, or is LiveJournal not the community my friends post on anymore?

I read stuff, but most of my posts are on FB now. Only when I need to rant about people who I know aren't on here will I post.

A lot of people don't really blog anymore--they Tweet or FB comment and that's it.

But if you want to blog, despite the problems here, I think staying here is better than the options out there. I did research a few weeks ago and LJ has over 26 million readers--Dreamwidth, the blog of choice that many of my friends are cross-posting from, is so much smaller. Many people have Blogspot or other independent blogs, but the friends do not migrate along with them.

I'm holding out, because the predominance of both friends and authors I want to read are still in LJ.

I'm still here, because I like it, and because I absolutely hands-down refuse to start cross-posting on multiple forums. There are a few holdouts (waves Hi to Zsof) here too, and I like that they post more conversational stuff than 140-character tweets. But I think the mass migration has been to Facebook. Bleah. The signal-to-noise ratio over there makes my skin crawl, and it's too easy for me to lose an hour or six by clicking from one thing to another. WiFi ADHD.
