Preist's with wear wolf this fall. It's all the rage.

I find it a little hard to write a blog post that has to be longer than this story felt. This is a complement, not a criticism because I didn’t go into this book thinking I’d finish it in one sitting, but I did. I couldn't put it down. It was a fun and rather exciting way to experience this story. I would suggest that anyone who has not read this ( Read more... )

I always like when King gives a reveal, then takes forever to come back around to it. For me it escalates the tension, knowing so-and-so is going to die, but seeing them go to the grocery store (will it happen there?) then to the bank (ooh, how about there?) and so on.

As for the movie, no I don't think it will hold the same scare. It's a little bit on the hokey side. Gary Busey is the biggest scare factor for me, I think:)

I agree the reveal isn't too bad. I know that I read and read and wondered what was going to happen.

So, after doing a little research, I found out that I hadn't seen this movie. I saw the Howling. I don't know if that will scare me, doubt it.

Gary Busey might be a reason to watch this movie alone.

I also enjoyed the month to month chapter structure. You knew the werewolf was going to strike every single chapter, that with the moon full, by the end of each chapter there was going to be one more attack, one more building block to the story that would move things along. If we would have had more of the in between stuff, I think it would have killed the suspense.

Interesting observation about how the pictures can become spoilers in a project like this. I also loved your description of how the werewolf movie haunted you for weeks. I've seen movies like that. You really know they're successful if they color your world with their palette, and it just won't go back to normal.

Yes, Gary Busey is plenty of reason to watch this movie. :)

I also read the book in one sitting and it was a refreshing change of pace.

The monster was killed pretty quickly. I don't know how that scene would be extended though, especially since the kid is in a wheelchair.

But, the kid does provoke the werewolf/priest the best way he can....by sending those letters. It's not an action-packed fight scene, but I liked it.

" I'll say this, I never watched The Incredible Hulk hoping that David would stay David the whole show." <--Great quote!

I enjoyed the pacing of this story as well and appreciated that King stuck to the action.
