What We've Got:
Three rooms available in a Davis Square
quasi-cooperative. We share food, house chores, and a
dinner once a month (or other social-type outing). We
are politically progressive, feminist, queer & queer
friendly, sex-positive, non-smoking, kink-friendly,
mostly-vegetarian, fun-loving. 4 blocks to the Davis
Square T station (real blocks, not "realtor blocks").
Rooms are available 9/1/03.
Small room: 10'x11' -- non-working, yet charming
fireplace, attached, enclosed front porch half of
which is yours, half of which is for house artistic
pursuits -- $500
Large room one: 14'x15' -- 2 windows with window seat,
view of park across the street, medium-sized closet,
northwest exposure -- $645
Large room two: 14'x15' -- 2 windows with pretty view
of trees, 2 closets: one traditional large closet, one
crawlspace storage closet, southeast exposure -- $645
The fine print: no pets, no children, on-street
parking, with city of somerville permit ($5), free
laundry in-house (not in dirty, grungy basement!),
enclosed back porch for hanging out, and no
bacon-frying allowed (seriously!).
What We've Got Going On:
We aren't a high-maintenance co-operative house but we
are committed to some fundamental principles of
co-operative living including: healthy & productive
communication, semi-monthly informal house meetings,
taking responsibility for our house as a group,
enjoying the benefits of creating community rather
than living with strangers.
Shared stuff: cable internet (we are open to cable tv,
depending on incoming roommates), gas heat & gas
stove, ground phone line, electricity which run us
about $80 total per person, per month with seasonal
fluctuations. Shared food & house supplies run us
$80-$120 total per person, per month.
Who We Are:
We are Erica & Amy -- two working professional women
in our mid-twenties. One vegetarian & one
near-vegetarian. Activists for different causes. Busy
but home enough to enjoy our beautiful house. We are
Redbones regulars and can often be found sipping yummy
things from either the Someday Cafe or Diesel. We
make zines and folk dance and sing in nifty community
choirs and peacekeep at rallies and make delicious
dinners, love to laugh, avidly read the Harry Potter
books and watch American Idol.
Who We Are Looking For:
Women preferred, queers & queer-friendly types
preferred, vegetarians & meat minimalists preferred,
on-time bill payers preferred, working folks
preferred, people who are excited about
co-operative-style living and who consider themselves
flexible, reasonable, responsible and friendly. These
aren't requirements, they're general preferences --
even if you aren't all of the above but think you
might fit well in the house we're trying to assemble,
drop us a line, schedule a time to come by and meet us
-- if you catch us on a good night we might even treat
you to some tea & apple crisp.
How to get in touch: that_red_house@yahoo.com or
617-848-6345 (Amy's work number, just make sure to
mention what you're calling about so as not to confuse
her!). E-mail or call to get more info and/or set-up
a time to come visit.
