Work (cell)phone rings. I am in the middle of discussing a tricky case with a colleague, but run to answer it.
"Am I speaking to [my name here]?"
"Yes."
"Hello, it is Lexie phoning from AIG life. Do you have a few minutes for me to tell you about our new policy for women?"
"Where did you get my phone number?"
"Lesdonnees gives us a list of contact details of consumers."
"Never heard of them. Who do I send the invoice to?"
"??""
"I am an attorney, I charge for phone calls."
"I don't know, I don't work with payments or anything, the supervisors might know that."
Can I speak to your supervisor please?"
After a wait, supervisor Gwen is on the line.
"I would like you to give me details of who I can send the invoice to for this call seeing as your company phoned me, and I have now had to wait for quite a few minutes."
"??"
[explained again]
"Let me have your email address, I will email you the details".
After a few minutes, I actually got an email.
Of course I am doing this JUST because I am fracking annoyed, but I also emailed Lesdonnees and asked (a) for a list of people they have given my details to and (b) for them to delete my details from their database. If they don't, there will be an official complaint coming.
