Interests

The entry box asked me for my interests. I thought about it a while, typed them out, alphabetized the list, and entered it:American rivers, bodging, botany, characteristic repeating phrases, citrus, colors, explosions, expository theory, fairy dusters and acacias, fibonacci numbers, flathead-6 engines, gestures, hamsters, history, informing ( Read more... )

Okay, why the flathead-6 in particular? I'm tempted to add them to my interest list, just so they they don't remain so neglected. Weird about the acacias, I grant you, since bromeliads get lots and lots of hits, both groups and individuals.

There is one community interested in acacias, if you do the search thing.

The only sort-of acacia trivia that comes to mind is something my old college prof told us. The roads in our university are lined with acacias. Apparently, the ground is so hard (adobe) that they had to use dynamite to create holes to plant the acacias with. Wacky Jesuits.

The flathead-6 in particular (but also in general, as there were rather a number of different ones) does seem a rather intriguing thing, yes.

I can't say too much about it, though, given that somewhere in the small pile of randomness in the storage box that passes for my garage is a head from a '38 Pontiac six-cylinder flathead engine, which I have carted with me through a couple of moves.

Replace the "and" with a comma and you're likely to get matches.

(Checking)

Okay, you'll get matches for acacias, but not for fairy dusters.

I like acacias myself, although they aren't on my list. Looking over your list, I think I only share history as an interest, but I would probably have added fibonacci numbers and saints as well. Grocery store French is the only interest on my list that doesn't have anybody else on it and is also as close as I come to Middle English. :)

I am one of seven matches for selachaphobia.
One of two matches for alphabetizing CDs and plus fifteens. (The plus fifteens are the corridor network tying all of Calgary's major buildings together. There's at least 16 kilometers of corridors. Probably more by now.)

I should go and add colors to my list. I spent ages in IM colorgeeking with athenais just last week. Should also add beads while I'm at it. You know, I've decided they put pulverize cocaine very very fine and dust it over the surfaces of all the beads made. I can't stay out of the stores and leave the damn things alone.
