McCoy was in the medical supply room, unfortunately spending his day off doing medication inventory. Really, this was a waste of his time and should be left to someone else, but apparently he was called "too picky" and "demanding" about where he wanted some insulin stored, and no, not next to the chest tube insertion kits. Who came up with that system anyway?

He was reaching on the top shelf to grab some gauze packages, right as the door slid open. Startling him out of his thoughts, and he was already frustrated about the whole ordeal anyway, his hand managed to knock over half the supplies off the shelf and cascaded onto the floor.

"DAMNIT!" He cursed loudly at the mess, before looking up to the Yeoman. "What is it?"

She jumped nearly a foot in the air as his voice echoed loudly off the walls. She had heard that Dr. McCoy could be short with people, but she had been lucky enough so far not to experience it first hand. Well, no more.

Her face heated up and she quickly bent down, gathering the supplies that were strewn about.

"I-I'm so sorry, sir. I just needed a signature."

"It's fine." He grumbled a reply before coming back down from the step ladder. "It was a huge mess before you came anyway." He started collecting everything back up, but when a few more items fell from the shelf he gave up.

With a nearly defeated sigh, he pointed to her clip board. "What is it you want me to sign?"

She looked around. It was pretty disorganized, but not an insurmountable feat for someone like her.

"Oh, it's something about Starfleet changing the protocol for medical leave that they want you to approve." She balanced the medical supplies against her chest and handed him the clipboard and attached stylus.

It was a quick read, just a page of new information to append to the existing policy, which was why she she was sent to get his signature and go, instead of drop it off in his inbox.

He looked around...and realized he had no idea where he was. But he had a lovely view of the stars.

"Huh..." he said as he glanced back down at his notes and back up at the stars. He then did a three-sixty, turning on his heel, before coming back to the view.

"Huh," he said again. He must've missed a turn somewhere. Of course, how hard was it to get from the mess hall to his office? At least he hadn't gotten lost getting from his office to his room. Considering that the two were a hallway apart, that would be terribly unfortunate. Which was why he didn't tell anyone when he lost his way the first day he came on. Not that he had pride. Well, much pride.

He saw someone coming toward him and welcomed the face in the otherwise deserted...wherever he was.

"Hi!" he greeted, relieved.

She raised her eyebrows and quickly looked behind her to make sure he was actually addressing her, then looked back and smiled slightly.

"Hello, sir."

Sir? He looked down at his suit and back up at her. Red. That meant she was either Security, Engineering, or a Yeoman. Taking a fast glance to her insignia he looked back up at her and smiled again.

"Yeoman," he tried, only faltering a little. "I'm fairly new here," David explained. "Dr. David Tinny, it's nice to meet you." He held his hand out with a grin.

She shook his hand gently. "Yeoman Mears, sir. It's nice to meet you too." She thought hard, trying to remember hearing anything about a new doctor on board, but she drew a blank. Someone else must have handled his paperwork.

The Captain was heading to his quarters for some much needed time to himself. After all, they had a slight threat around and he wanted to be able to think. He couldn't do that while being on the bridge. The silence is what he needed and what he intended to get.

The computer had told her that the Captain was on the bridge, so when she suddenly saw him walking down the hall in her direction, she grew a bit flustered. She hated it when unexpected things happened. But she reminded herself to be professional, and stood a bit straighter as he approached.

"Sir? I was coming to see you, to get your signature on something."

Yes, well, Jim was a loose canon so to speak. There was never any telling where he was or wasn't at on the ship. One place one moment and another place another moment.

"Signature on what exactly?"

"Oh, it's umm..." She quickly turned on the electronic clipboard to look it over. She had a vague understanding of what it was, but Starfleet jargon was hard to get through at times.

"Changes in policies and procedures regarding Starfleet Protocol #133." She paused to turn the clipboard towards him and plucked the stylus from its holder, offering both to him.

I'm gonna try to have him keep a convo going. And not be an asshat. Keyword: "Try". XD vulcancommander November 15 2010, 13:51:00 UTC
The PADDs were late. Spock glanced at the datafeed on the desk's computer, noting what time it was in the shift. The crew members put in charge of the Computer Labs for that day had ensured the First Officer that they'd get the work to him promptly, and he'd left for the bridge assured. With the threat of Klingons nearby, he hadn't had anytime during his own shift to devote to looking over the work. But now sitting in his office now in the Science Lab, looking over other work left for him, he didn't exactly look content at the fact that the work wasn't here yet. What could be taking the yeoman so long?

Ha, ok. She'll totally cry if he is. sweetinaskirt November 15 2010, 15:21:44 UTC
Stopping in front of Mr. Spock's door, Daniela took a moment to steel herself. She really didn't like communicating with him, for two reasons. One, she hated when people made her feel stupid, and no one could succeed at that better than the Vulcan, and two, his manner of speech unnerved her. To speak without emotion was something Daniela didn't like. She was already bad at social situations, but to have no verbal clues to help her along was irritating.

However, she thought to herself, this wasn't social so much as professional, and she could be professional. With that thought, she rang the chime outside his door and waited.

If she cries, tell her to go tattle on him to Uhura. She'll set him right. XD vulcancommander November 15 2010, 18:32:21 UTC
The chime alerted him, drawing his head up from where it had been bent a little to look over some other PADD work. Organizing the devices on his desk, Spock cleared them to the side to make room for the - hopefully - work that the yeoman was bringing to him.

Calling the computer to allow her access and calling the word 'Enter' for her to hear, the alien First Officer got to his feet with his hands clasped gently behind his back. Had he not been Vulcan, it could've been mistaken that he was upset by the look on his face. Too bad he always looked like that.

She wouldn't want to be a tattle, but I'll make her. ;) sweetinaskirt November 15 2010, 18:50:50 UTC
The door slid open and Daniela entered with a nervous smile.

"Hello, sir. I have some paperwork for you to sign." She offered him the electronic clipboard and stylus, the page he needed to read already up and ready.
