Creation seems to come out of imperfection. It seems to come out of a striving and a frustration. And this is where I think language came from. I mean, it came from our desire to transcend our isolation and have some sort of connection with one another. And it had to be easy when it was just simple survival. Like, you know, "water." Now, I can tell you that I am not one of those people drawn to disaster. It completely breaks my heart that others are like that. And I've never understood it. I'm the person sitting at home crying my eye out when I see the news, not following the story faithfully, waiting for the death toll. It kind of sickens me. And I know that may be hard to believe coming from someone who is so attracted to death and destruction on the big screen, but that's fake. It's all fake. And I guess that's why I like it so much. Maybe I harbor all of those disgusting human traits into film only, to spare myself from lusting after it in every day life ( ... )
