Yes, it has been forever. Yes, I feel bad about it. Yes, it is probably gauche to have my first post in a month to be a Christmas wishlist.

Money.
You'll notice I didn't request Barnes & Noble gift cards this year, and that all of my book links involve a strange and exciting new website. That's right, kids: I have found the librarian's mecca, the bibliophile's dream, the English Literature major's crack cocaine.
Bookfinder.com comparison shops books for you from all around the web, and lists its findings from cheapest to most luxurious--including the shipping. You can get every guilty pleasure for literally 70% off or more if you're lucky, and there are absolutely no tricks to it. If you couldn't already tell, I'm rather smitten.
Another great idea for the teenage girl (or girls! Not all of this rambling is for me. I do have a sister, you know, and I am here to help steer you in the right direction for her as well) in your life--
Modcloth.com. Everything on there is absolutely adorable, though a bit on the pricy side. I would suggest a gift certificate (
here), because they are always the right size and flattering on every figure.
And of course, I always feel a touch unrefined when I ask for money, but please keep in mind that I am saving up for (hopefully) studying abroad in Japan my junior year of college. I've been planning to do this forever, and my steadfast determination remains unchanged, unlike America's economy. So, I thought I would ask.
As for me, things have been getting hectic again! For those of you whom I didn't see at Thanksgiving: the reason for my prolonged absence from the internet was simply because I got into the play for which I auditioned, and was very busy making new friends. The entire theater department seems to be one enormous clique, and I was thrown into the deep-end a touch when I got cast. The rest of my castmates were all at least 20 years old, which, again, what am I doing here and why do these people have cars. They were all very nice, though, and so I have no complaints there.
Finals are approaching, my God. It's been seven or eight weeks already, I don't actually know--what matters is, quarters are only ten weeks long. Who knew? No one told me, certainly. And so here I am, with papers to write and languages to learn, and I decided to update my blog.
Anything's better than studying. Sorry, Mom.
Thanksgiving was a strange holiday because a lot of people simply weren't there--even without taking my beloved cousins into account. Most of my friends were sick or in LA (same thing) or otherwise unavailable, and so it wasn't the reunion I was subconsciously expecting. It's a shame, too, since I was too exhausted while I was home to really take advantage of being there. However, I did hang out with D. G. and P. M. and my parents and my sister, so really I shouldn't be complaining. Christmas is but a few weeks away--quite long enough to do your Christmas shopping, even if you order from the internet, hem hem.
Another shame: I left my toiletries at home. It's always something, and at least it wasn't my computer, or else I would be aimlessly drifting around Pendola (my dorm), moaning like some sort of nasally-voiced ghost.
In other news, this year was the first ever time I have failed to complete my National Writing Month novel. My goal was 50,000 words in the month of November, as is my way, and I came up to almost 29,000 before telling myself, "Self, you aren't having fun. Go outside. Talk with friends. Your book will be waiting for you next quarter, if it comes to that." I am very zen about it--my mother told me that I have "nothing left to prove," but that isn't exactly it. It is because, perhaps, I still learned from what little I have written this month, and I am taking a writing class next quarter geared towards Finishing Writing Projects. I am not worried about my literary future, is what I'm saying.
I also feel inclined to mention that The Princess and the Frog, Disney's latest venture, looks to be Amazing. The music is done by the man who composes for Pixar most times, it seems, and so even though everything is done in classical Disney 2-D animation style, the New Orleans music has more zing than even I expected. I am crazy excited, not gonna lie.
Here's the trailer. It's also very possible--nay, probable--that one of the reasons I'm so pumped is because the new prince, Neveen, looks to be my favorite prince so far, because he's gorgeous, charismatic, and a complete doof. If I have a type, it is that.
As you can tell, maybe another reason I haven't been updating my journal is because I really have very little to say! So if you have a question, feel free to drop it in the comments. I'll reply, I swear. <3
