Call the registrar. Those people know EVERYTHING. And if they don't know, they can connect you to someone who does, and they probably know which someone that is. Like pomogrenadier said, jobs may only be available to people on work-study, but this is something that you can find out via the registrar or whoever they connect you to.

If you aren't eligible for that, i suggest starting to call people in the shops around campus RIGHT NOW and asking them if they're hiring, if you can get an application and bring or fax it in or whatever (i have NO idea how far you live from your campus). Be friendly and take initiative and do it RIGHT NOW because they won't be hiring anymore two weeks after you're settled in.

Go to the cafeteria and ask somebody, or search your school's website for campus jobs -- often they will have a website specifically for applying for positions that you will need to sign up for.
