I was really sad when I heard this. Have been a fan of his for years now, and I'm especially annoyed at the fact his death has been almost totally ignored in the media here because he happened to die just after the totally unimportant wife of a cricket player and while her death and funeral has been given blanket coverage, next to no word about one of the greatest comedians ever.
I had to find out from CNN. I happened upon one of their memorial clips that morning. My mom told me that she never thought George Carlin could/would die. He's just always been. Never looked old, never grew old. It's sad :(... I used to watch him on Thomas and Friends, he played Mr. Conductor or something like that (I stayed with my great-grandmother a lot back then... She had public broadcasting so...). Then I found my dad's comedy records of him and all of those things as I grew up...
Amen on the non-coverage issue... George Carlin is/was a major part of modern culture... At least we will all remember him for who he is/was...
