oh god, that picture was a once in a lifetime thing. it was up in washington, and there was a pod of orcas we were following [whale watching trip], and there happened to be a baby and its mom. we shut off the boat, and the rest of the pod went by at a distance, but the mom brought the baby right up to the side of the boat and holy crap was it cool. the captain said that if we came back in like fifteen years and said, "hey remember that day when the mom brought the baby up to the boat?" he'd know exactly what you were talking about. that's how rare it was. ;]
