Wasted life

Jan 23, 2005 23:15

Depending upon upcoming technology, I've lived between 1/4 and 1/5 of my life away already. Biologically, I'm as healthy as I will ever be, and soon an inevitable declining of health will ensue. Every day I spend about 2 or 3 hours watching tv, or playing computer games, or im'ing people, etc. Somedays its a lot more, sometimes less, but ( Read more... )

Ok, now I have to get all "glass is half full" on your ass!!! Did you not see that you still have another 3/4 or 4/5 of your life left?! If you don't like the way you're living it now, change it! No one can do it for you. Besides, you're lying. You made a MAJOR difference in my life! You deny it, but it's the truth. AND it wouldn't have happened if you didn't IM me first! So be happy gosh darndit! That's about as tough as my love gets, so I'll leave you with a hug. *tucking you into bed* Goodnight! ~ Jackie

Dearest Jackie, you seem to have taken my entry out of context, however, after another examination it is obvious that it would not be difficult for it to be misleading. Although it may sound as if I am whining about how I've wasted so much of my life and I hate myself and the world is a horrible place because I waste so much time, it was more of a realization and reflection on the time that everyone, including myself, wastes upon fruitless activity. I came to this realization last night and decided I am not going to waste time like I used to, because life is too great. I realize that although I did waste it a bit, I was far from unproductive in my lifestyle, and I have had many great times and many accomplishments as well. Also, I'm glad I could help you out. I do not think that the im is a completely wasteful entity, however it can easily become such. Have a good day!

"Biologically, I'm as healthy as I will ever be, and soon an inevitable declining of health will ensue."

Actually, I'd say your health declines hourly considering you smoke.

I know. I wish "I'm quitting" actually meant something anymore.

All you have to do is actually quit. :)

wow, you've been "quitting" since we were in high school.
How are you Josh? Do you know who this is? Personally I think everyone should stop giving you such wise advice and just be happy with your realizaion. Everyone thinks they have something special to say. I think it's great! Go outside more! Live more! I'm working on the same thing except my problem has nothing to do with IMing too much. I'm trying to create more art.
Hope to hear from you.

Wouldn't it have just been easier to say "I'm gonna go visit my boyfriend now"? And a lot less confusing for Jackie. And a lot less surprising for me when I walk out to get a glass of water. :-P Next time don't be so complicated. lol.

LOL! No, that isn't what it was all about, but you did have the funniest face when you got a glass of water. It was adorable, I wish I could have taken a picture and hung it in my apartment. Sorry if it threw you off though. I am very proud of myself today though, I didn't waste a minute and I got a lot of classwork done too. Anyway, have a good night (wherever you are tonight, not in your room...) and I'll see ya soon! :0

I wonder is this ever happens in history. You know Homer gets up one morning and says " Hey if I calculate it I've spent way too much time with all this "paper" I should quit writing the Illiad and just live life" I geuss what I'm saying is it's what makes you happy thats important. If you get offline and think "Wow that sucked what a colloassal waste of time", then your right about what you said, and I think it's awesome to try to limit yourself in favor of more worthwhile pursuits(In fact I may give up technological entertainment for Lent). But if you get off your computer and your really happy about the time you've spent then whose to say it's not worthwhile?

Well, I find it more worthwhile for me when I'm off. But it's great for times like now.... when I'm sick.... and its hard to move very far... ha ha

Don't know why I didn't see this until now, but it has put me in a philosophical mood. Granted, that doesn't take much (a bowl of pudding, a pop tart wrapper, what have you,)but still...here
