That's a darned nice table. You know what would be a good way to protect those? polyresin. I almost made the world's coolest chair out of that stuff, it's bizarre and awesome all in one. Basically it would look like there was a sheet of glass over it, but you'd never have to take the glass off and clean the table, because it would actually all be together.
Hum, are there any problems with that becoming tacky when it's hot or giving off fumes or anything? Is it hard to work with? That sounds interesting.....

Well, to be honest, most of the above apply. It's difficult to work with if you're new to it, you're obligated by law (at least in CT) to wear a special ventilation mask while using it, and if you don't do it right it can ooze. However, if you do it right (proper technique, appropriate drying time, etc) it's absolutely identical to a sheet of glass and it never oozes and (theoretically) can't crack, because, like tar, it's not a solid, but a very rigid amorphous fluid.
thanks for the suggestions, guys. i am glad you guys like my silly attempts at furnitureness. :)
if i am not mistaken, polyresin is the stuff you mix up and pour on and let it harden, right? it is something i considered for this project, because then i could have put 3 dimensional items in too and sealed them in... but i'm too poor for that because it is a bit pricey, eh? and i am not smart enough to come up with a way to contain the stuff while it was hardening... although i probably would have worked something out.
so the current plan is to varnish the hell out of it... we will see how that goes.
well right now i am working on covering these ridiculously ugly throw pillows... they were pink/yellow/green/blue with flowers... now they are black moleskin on one side and faux zebra fur on the other. i suppose i shall post a picture tomorrow maybe.
and my next project is contingent on me acquiring some awesome black and white photographs in new york city...
