I'm going to pm Esme to come take a look. I think there might be some trouble with NPC's sporning all over the place and I'm sure she added some hacks as there wasn't a patch. But if you are installing on a pc division (if that's the correct term, since I am a dirty PC player) couldn't you also use the pc patch?
Also wooot BV! You also get digging for tresure and walk to lot- A couple of the best two thing from that ep.
Hmm, I was afraid of that. I do have the hack that keeps NPCs from spawning until the game explodes, but I think there's other smaller things like they broke Primping again etc etc.
I *could* use Boot Camp or partition my drive, but I don't feel confident in the technical details of it and frankly I am just too lazy to go through all that just for one application. ;P So I just stick to the Mac versions.
I didn't know Walk to Lot came with this EP, that will be much used!
Hello, Toast. :) I hope it's not too presumptuous to add my advice here...
There isn't a BV patch for Macs, and the so-called "Seasons patch" doesn't actually work. Primping broke for me shortly after installing Pets/OFB (I installed them at the same time) and was never fixed, no matter how many patches I used.
I use lots and lots of hacks from Pescado at MATY: not only the vacation fixes, but also the no_____regen ones (nodormieregen, notownieregen, etc.), creaturefix, anything related to gardening, and of course primpfix.
Without the MATY hacks, I was lucky to get a year out of the game without having to rebuild manually, even using the official patches, so I'd recommend going with the stuff from MATY.
If the patch wasn't ported, you definitely want to get the vacation fix hacks from Pescado. The endlessly spawning vacation Townies are bad news.
Also, some of the vacation lots are fubared and need to be fixed if you're going to send Sims there and keep them happy. At Three Lakes, the campground hotel lot women's bathroom is messed up. There's a toilet stall in the way of the door, because they placed one or the other with moveobjects on, and it makes the door to the showers unusable. So your lady Sims do not get to shower. And at Twikkii Island, pretty sure it's the pirate ship lot, the doors to the men's and women's restrooms are on the wrong bathrooms. Which is fine, except that the women can't use a urinal, so only one can use the bathroom at a time instead of two. Use boolprop dormspecifictoolsdisabled false to move things around and make stuff usable.
Prof would be able to tell you if there was a patch or not, and probably still has it and could upload it for you if there is one.
Oh, that's good to know because Three Lakes is a place I might actually send someone to visit. (I don't have much interest in Not!Asia but lumberjacks are cool!) And well, all I can say is, why does a haunted pirate ship even have a urinal? Pretty sure they weren't standard issue in sixteenth century ships.
Seriously though, WHY DOES MAXIS HATE SIM BLADDERS SO MUCH. D:
Oh, and if you send Sims to a hotel, you have to lock the door to their hotel room, otherwise the random vacation Townies will let themselves into your room and watch TV and wake everyone up. No, I don't know why that's a thing. It is way creepy.
I've gotten a lot of the expansions recently, so you're not the only one! I personally love BV. I love the holiday souvenirs and I really like the pirate ship. Where did you get it for only a few bucks?
Congrats! BV was a lot of fun for me, even though the vacation "tours" themselves were a bit of a disappointment. Bugginess aside (and I heartily ditto getting every hack in Pes's BV directory, and spicing things up with the CastAway extractions) I enjoyed the possibilities of the vacation destinations - I built various communes living in vacation homes most of the year and popping back to the main hood only to age or to squeeze out kids, I had always-on-the-road globetrotting travel reporters roaming all over and writing travelogues, I even had a sunny tropical retirement home for old fogeys a few days from their deaths. It was a bit of "OFB: In Space!" for me. :D I hope you'll find it fun, but from what I've read, I think you'll MAKE it fun if all else fails.
Aw thanks. :3 Haha, I love the idea of a retirement home on Twikki Island. Elders have so little to do, it makes sense to just let them play on the beach until Grim comes!
Problem is, sims don't actually seem to age while on vacation, unless I misremember, and I've had honeymoons ruined by vicious, stuck pregnancies. I haven't tried using lot timers or such with them, but it'd make sense to turn individual lot timing on and then bring the old coots back to the main hood to die to keep the game files from imploding.
I had a lot of fun (well, sometimes cringingly) with my retirement home - orange-tanned and sunburnt elders at their tiki bar, or playing the sim bingo, or getting massages, and then spending the night gleefully harassing their children and grandchildren by phone and email, only to saunter across the hallway to meet that silver fox for midnight canoodling. It was sweet, and great fun once I plonked in some of the more overbearing personalities from my hood. :D Ah, the lecturing and bickering!
