Hmm what I heard through another blog was that it may or may not be Whedon-less, and that he has to try out along with the other writers. Don't know the source on that as it was a comment in a friend's LJ by someone I don't know. but here is a link to the Variety piece on it

They're just insuring that it'll actually be good.
Joss is a hack.

He totally lucked out with Firefly. (...and it being canceled was probably the reason. If it went on any longer he'd have found a way to 'Buffy' it up.)
