After orientation, I realized that the lifestyle I currently have will cease to exist when I return to campus next month. And all I have is the notion to continue making comparisons.
As you see similarities between the people you know and those you encounter, I found myself trying to find places reminiscent of home. For instance, there's a tea house as good as CafeTaps down there, the closest movie theater is part of the Regal Cinema's franchise, and in case I need comfort food, a Trader Joe's is nearby.
Until we're fully adjusted, we long to see the familiarities in our surroundings. I guess that in itself is one survival technique.
