As to the MZ23 remake: It's not that I have anything against MZ23, I love that OAV. But everything's been said, ya know? It really IS about a very specific time and if you change that context, how does it make the story any better?

Just imagine the huge plot complications if you introduce modern smartphones into that artificial world.

Now, a NEW MZ23 story, told from the 'secret army' side, the difficult choices that have to be made to keep all the 'civilians' ignorant and safe, that could be a dark and creepy and gripping tale. I doubt that's what we would get.
