The game plan was for Jen, Sasha and I would leave to Hartford, CT around 6pm. Around 3:30pm, Sasha called with some bumming information. She wouldn't be attending. Jen came around 6:30pm to pick me up. Threw in my Five Finger Death Punch CD and headed down to CT. Wasn't bad, a lot of slow pokes on the road. When we got to the city, we got a little lost but luckily we found where were were suppose to park at our hotel. We stayed at at the Residence Inn. Found a good parking place and headed inside. Checked in and got our keys for room 418. Went to the 4th floor and followed the signs. Ended up being a fucking labyrinth. Finally came to our door and I opened it and this is what we walked into:
When I ordered the hotel, I booked it for three people so it was a king with a sofa bed. I had four rooms to choose from that were all the same price ($139) so I picked the 'hospitality' room. Holy shit. I wish my apartment was set up like this!
So we got situated and decided to go get some grub.
Walked outside and around the block, bumped into quite a few club goers at the local rave but oddly, nothing seemed to be open on a Saturday night. Most of the stores were closed and we didn't run into any place to eat. Finally, we cut down through a brick paved alley and came across an Irish pub named Vaughan's Public House. Walked by it to find somewhere else to go but my gut said this was the place so we went back. Fucking cutest little place ever. It was like stepping back into Ireland. Celtic crosses and knots decorated the walls and all the signs were in Gaelic. The tables were all wooden and you could sit on stools or booths. Super awesome. Got a great meal and it was decent prices. Great service and really homey. If I ever end up in Hartford, that's where I'm eating.
After a stuffing burger and fries, we headed back to our hotel which was just up the street. Jen decided to take a bath so I was in charge of the TV. While the bath was getting ready, we looked through the movies we could watch and decided on either Hanna or Suckerpunch. While we were looking for the movie, totally forgot the water was running. Luckily Jen remembered and shut it off before we had water running down the stairs. xD
When she took her bath, I lounged on the bed and flipped through like three channels until I came upon Employee of the Month. Perfect. Watched it until Jen came in and watched it too and we fell asleep with it on around 10pm

Unfortunately, I saw every hour until around 9am. Got up and I lounged around forever while Jen went to go get Dunkin Donuts. I texted her just in time for her to pick me up a blue berry muffin and a croissant. We ate and I decided to finally get dressed for the concert. Threw my early entry pass on my Batman lanyard and we headed off to check out. Amazingly, the concert was RIGHT down the road. We left a little too early to get to the theater parking so we found a place a little bit down the road for $15. Got all our crap out of the car and walked to the event.
Doors opened at 2pm, we got there at 11:45am. Let's just say we got there and there was like 40 people waiting in line. We waited in the shade for awhile since the sun was pretty brutal until we found out that were were in the wrong line for early entry. Still, we ended up being third in line. A band from Chicago was walking up and down the line, having people listen to their music and seeing if they were interested in buying their CD for $10. I bought one since they were pretty damn good. Now, guess how early we got in? 15 minutes before anyone else. -_-; Ah well. We headed to get our drinks and headed up to our seats. Found out the main stage didn't open till around 4:15. Totally didn't know there was a second stage. So we headed off and found the second stage. Signed up to a few places and got some free posters which I later gave to Sasha since I had no use for them. We then mosey over to the second stage and got a pretty good place since no one was really around. I was able to get a top of the high voltage wires so I got some height over the little crowd before me.
First band was Verge of something or something along those lines. Either way, they weren't that great. Their lead guitarist was like... 12 and it was pretty much stuffing the mic down your throat and screaming.

Hell or Highwater
Much better and very interactive. Luckily, Jen and I was on the guitar side of the stage so we got our first piece of eye candy. We also got a little closer to the stage.

Now we're holding onto the rail so we're right up front for this amazing band and for these amazing hotties.
Tavis Stanley
Jen and I started the drool fest.
Cale Gontier (Adam Gontier's cousin)
Then gorgeous trotted over and I told Jen to keep the blonde.
Lead singer was 23463275678236526782 times paler than that. I was worried that he was a corpse. :/ Really cool guy though.

They were alright. Drummer was pretty awesome and damn hot like the lead singer. He had the fan blowing on him so his hair was flying all over the place. It was pretty cool. 8D

Jen called me back and it was time to go. During the second stage view, a few mosh pits were born and a lot of crowd surfing. Drunken assholes were pushing through and we along with some other peeps that stood there forever blocked them off and pushed them out. A poor girl behind us was in crutches, not sure what was her injury but Jen was nice enough to let her have her spot by the rail. At one point during Black Tide, a security dude headed straight for me and I look back to get a shoe in my face. Someone was coming overhead but they never made it, instead they fell to the ground. We missed Sevendust's act but whatever. We needed to give our ears a rest so we headed out to the booths to see some of the bands. We first stopped at High or Hellwater and shook all their hands and bought their $5 CD and had them sign it. Next, we headed to see Art of Dying and the line was much longer. Hugged Jonny, Greg and Travis and shook all their hands while they signed my early entry card. Jen got pictures with the boys but I decided to opt out since cameras put on an extra 500lbs.
We then headed over to the Rockstar drink lounge and chugged a free drink before heading to the main stage that was now open.
This is how close we were to the stage 8DDDDDDD

Of course, since it was 9/11, there was a memorial film from the bands that played before out boys came out and we all took a moment of silence.

We left after the beginning of the last song that we could beat the crowd. We headed off to McDonalds for some late dinner but they were packed so BK had to do. I sucked down a large vanilla shake and a stacker while Jen drove me home. All in all, I had an AWESOME time and it really made up for the horrible experience I had during Family Values years ago. Can't wait to go out jamming with Jen again and hopefully, Sasha came rock with us too! \m/
