The book I got these from is a history of the colonization of Australia (The Fatal Shore, that book that I got right before we had dinner a week ago, remember?) and it does not attempt to make sweeping generalizations or extrapolations. The definitions were ones the author quoted from a Victorian journalist. I have checked elsewhere and there seem to be multiple sources for several of the definitions ( ... )
