I just felt like writing a poem about a barque struggling with the perils of a leeward shore. I don't think I have the rhythm quite polished so I will re-visit it in the future. Verse isn't really my metier (pun, certainly intended).

I took Tica, my sea kayak, down to Shell Point this afternoon. Yesterday it was dead still on the Bay for our regatta and it looked like from the forecast that there would be more of the same. I had originally planned to paddle today, but the strong wind made me think of sailing rather than kayaking. It was blowing a bit too hard in the Gulf and Apalachee Bay with small craft advisories in place. Plus it was going to be low tide for the middle of the day. Today I took my kayak, Tica, out for her first real coastal experience. I had previously paddled well down the St. Marks, but it was still a riverine system. I launched at Bottoms Rd at just past low tide with the tide starting to come back in. Yesterday I heard a Jimmy Buffett song on the radio and it wasn't one of the more commonly played ones like; "Margaritaville", "Come Monday", "Cheeseburger in Paradise" or "Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude". No, it was "If the Phone Doesn't Ring". I have to give the local "classic country" station props for having played that one.

Well, this was a pretty unpleasant sailing day.

With all the men's rooms closed at work today, they made the third floor ladies' room available as a men's room for the day (I don't know if any women went in by habit without reading the signs).
