SaDiablo Hall, Hell

Saetan almost didn't go into the room where the girls were sitting with Smoke and discussing spells and work to do in the gardens. It wasn't that the gardens needed any work done, mind you. Karla was equally displeased. "Mother Night, you forsaken old corpse," she spat at Saetan. She might not have the power of Witch, but she was still one scary little blonde when she wanted to be. And honestly, even when she didn't. "Why do you send her away now, when she needs her family the most? When she needs you the most?"

Darkness give me strength, Saetan asked as he looked at the angry witch. "Because she needs to be around people ---"

"I'm around people here," Witch protested, her voice going colder.

"--- that are not Demon Dead," he finished. "This isn't permanent, and you're not going alone." He looked at Karla and then at Smoke.

To Karla's credit, she put it together almost immediately. "You're sending me with her?" she asked, very glad to be the one going with but a little incredulous nonetheless. "What kind of mangled plan is that? Two witches alone in a foreign land?"

"I'm also sending Smoke --" The Kindred Prince gave him a look that spoke volumes about what might happen if he wasn't sent with her. "-- and Morton has agreed to be an emissary and check on your well-being as often as possible."

"Why are you doing this?" Jaenelle demanded in a hurt voice. "What have I done?"

Saetan felt his heart break at the pain in his daughter's voice and the hurt shining in her eyes. He knew she was thinking that she had done something wrong and that was why he was sending her away. Again, he wanted to get his hands on her blood relatives and make them pay for every pain that they had ever caused Jaenelle.

"Witch-child," he said softly, going to her and sinking to one knee. "Lady, I'm not doing this because of anything you have done. You're my daughter and I love you very much. That will never change."
