Am I back? I don't know, ahaha

But the thing is-- and I don't even know if I'm saying this right, but-- but, I was in a kind of music-y mood and was watching some youtube videos (like this one, where David Archuleta sings Fields of Gold, and wooooow, boy can sing) and eventually I got over to this, from the finale of the most recent season of The Sing Off, and anyway, both of ( Read more... )

Those were gorgeous. *_* Thank you for sharing. I definitely know what you mean, too; when I used to sing in choirs I got that elated feeling of performing together and making something beautiful to share with the audience. I miss it.

I get a very similar feeling from collaborative writing, too, though. Like, I like writing fics solo but there's something about the back-and-forth between one or more other writers that makes it that much more fun. Haha, you're like me! The short of my opinion is that I don't think it's possible to experience something like that in writing. Ahh, I love that Coldplay song. I actually first heard that song in relation to an anime AMV for the movie "Brave Story," and it's been my go-to song for a lot of fanfic writing over the last few years.

But to answer your question: the closest I've ever gotten to something like that was back during my most active days in Fullmetal Alchemist fandom. There's a group of writers I used to hang out with pretty regularly in that fandom, and we did a fic writing contest a few times called "Iron Smut" which sort of had that kind of feeling to it. It wasn't collaborative; in fact, it was pretty much the opposite since it was a competition. But the rules were like this and what generally happened is that we'd get around four people to write in a timed contest while a group of spectators and judges hung out in chat and discussed what the writers were doing. At the beginning of the contest the writers would all be given a theme (in the one I participated in, it was a threesome competition and the theme was "building a family"). After the ( ... )
