You're looking to move to Seattle? My girlfriend is working backstage at the Seattle Children's Theater; I'll ask her to get the skinny on getting into the stage managing business in Seattle theaters.

Valerie says the big question for stage managing is whether or not you have an equity card. If you do, then the unionized theaters can hire you to stage manage. If not, then you'll have to start out as a PA. She said that the people she asked recommended sending your resume to the theaters (Village Theater in Issaquah, Seattle Children's Theater, Seattle Repertory Theater, ACT, and Intiman being the ones she recommends, with the Fifth Avenue being a super long shot). If none of those pan out, she says keep bothering them, call them, etc. According to her they're always looking for good PAs. There are of course non-union theaters, too, but she doesn't recommend them.

She also has a PA she's working with for the current show who'd be willing to talk with you if you're interested; she might have some more specific information that would be helpful.
