What is home? Where is home? How one defines this term is indeed up to the individual but from my perspective can only be interpreted as the place where one feels at ease, comfortable and of course familiar. Yes, home can include family, but to keep a bird caged forever is cruel. You sir are no Canary and home should always be where the heart is, and your heart right now is in Japan. Nobody questions your motives or actions, the general consensus for a few years has been that you will not be returning to the mother land we call Canada. If and when you decide to visit (not to permanently stay) Tim Hortons will be awaiting your $1.50 for a large coffee.
