yikes! my friend leah has always been very allergic to insect bites, so I've seen some pretty bad allergic reactions - I hope you're holding out ok!
the picture-hosting service I use is called photobucket; go here: http://www.photobucket.com/ and sign up. then when you upload a picture, it'll give you a url and an image tag, which you put in your post. directions on putting images in your lj post or linking to them are here: http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=6

Yeah, photobucket is great (especially now I can actually *see* it from China), but if that doesn't work, imageshack (www.imageshack.us) lets you upload pictures without having to sign up.
Post your pics and make me feel better about the fact that my entire arm is swollen from getting bitten by a mosquito 6 times, working methodically up my arm. I'm itchy too. =.=;

erm, d'you mean people with lj free accounts (this is incorrect), or people with photobucket free accounts (also incorrect). or something else entirely?
my photobucket account is a free account, and all i do in photbucket is click "browse", then select the image I want. it loads the image and gives me both a url and an image tag. then, follow lj's tips on html:
