This class is difficult and Professor Brun expects near perfection from her students. She is a very good teacher but the class is a lot of work and requires patience. Her students must put the work into the class because she marks hard.
ARITHMANCY:
taught by: Septima Vector
OWL mark: E or O
Like Professor Brun, Professor Vector is a hard marker and expects a lot from her students. She is very distant and doesn't care to hear about her students' personal lives. As a result, she isn't a favourite.
ASTRONOMY:
taught by: Starla Walker
OWL mark: E or O
Professor Walker is not a hard marker but she also isn't an easy one. She falls somewhere in the middle; however, a carefully planned talk with her can often get your mark raised a bit.
CARE OF MAGICAL CREATURES:
taught by: Joseph Renfield
OWL mark: E or O
Professor Renfield is a hard marker at first. Once he has determined that you are truly interested, he lets up a bit. However, this marking style can eliminate students early on.
CHARMS:

OWL mark: A, E or O
Professor Frankincense is very good professor to have. She marks fairly easily and gives a lot of feedback. She is very encouraging but can get off-track easily.
DEFENCE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS:
taught by: Finley Proudfoot
OWL mark: E or O
Professor Proudfoot falls somewhere between being an easy and a hard marker. He doesn't care a lot about teaching and therefore, he gives very little feedback and will make mistakes. However, he doesn't react well to his students correcting him.
DIVINATION:
taught by: Machteld Burroughs
OWL mark: E or O
Professor Burroughs treats her students well, albeit condescendingly, and this extends to her marking style. She leans more toward being a hard marker and has been known to leave the occasional sarcastic remark on a student's paper.
HERBOLOGY:

OWL mark: A, E or O
Professor Longbottom is a fairly easy marker. He tries hard to get along with his students and to make sure they do well in his class.
HISTORY OF MAGIC:
taught by: Cuthbert Binns
OWL mark: A, E or O
This class is difficult just because of the nature of the professor. His marking his hard but he isn't picky about who is in his class.
MUGGLE STUDIES
taught by: Daisy Hookum
This class is mandatory, and all students have had to take it since their first year. The work load is less than other classes and the exam is not as significant as it is for the NEWT level classes.
POTIONS:
taught by: Byron Quince
OWL mark: E or O
Potions class is difficult by its very nature and mishaps are not uncommon. Professor Quince marks fairly hard because he wants people to try their best and not cause a minor disaster. However, because the class is difficult, he has occasionally discouraged some students from going on in the class.
TRANSFIGURATION:

OWL mark: A, E or O
Professor Spinnet falls somewhere between easy and hard on the marking scale. She is encouraging and always willing to help, making her likable as a professor.
