1) Rain water ONLY. Put 2 or 3 containers outside to be sure you don't run out, and keep 1 large jar full inside. *melting snow is wonderous, it's easier and faster to collect than rain, just be sure to take it when you can get it, it sucks to be out of water in the middle of a drought. *just don't water too much, if you give it a good soaking once a week and then mist it every day or so that's fine - there shouldn't be standing water, the peat moss should just be somewhat soggy* 2) Don't put them too close to a window, too much light = bad. Mine did fine on the counter next to the sink. 3) Don't feed them raw meat. Feed them dead bugs, when you can get them. 4) After you've had it a while, and seems to have stopped growing, put it in the fridge for a few weeks so it can hibernate.
Look online for more tips, I googled Venus Fly Traps and found out all sorts of cool stuff.
Hope you have better luck w/ yours than I did with mine (mine died)!
