Day 28: Cosplay meme
28. Where do you work on your cosplays and where do you store them when they’re done?
Do not judge me harshly for the images you are about to see XD! Remember..a con is next weekend.
Okay so the construction area really starts in my own room. This is my current pile, which is stuff I will be needing for Otakon. I start to pile it up usually 1-2 weeks before the convention.
Then you move into the main family room. This is where everything basically happens. This is the view from my room/bottom of the steps.
This is my baby. My Bernina Embroidery machine that..honestly I don't know how I survived before I had it. Someday I will actually pay it off. Right now it is sewing mode since I was working on Ferio. You can see the embroidery module sitting on the box behind it though. My table is a bit of a mess at the moment.
Here you can see the laptop I bought just for the machine. it has my embroidery program on it and spends 90% of its time right there next to the machine. I do use it when I work on other stuff or need music or something.
This is my sewing table/cabinet. this is where all of my supplies are kept. The other side has a cabinet and both leaves fold out for maximum work space. Right now only one leaf it out and I have my cutting board on top of it because of the sheer amount of poster board I have been cutting lately.
Next to that is a huge pile of scrap fabric. I am not kidding. that is all remnants of fabric I have worked on and just feel like they are too big to throw away but have no other place for.
This is the view from the bathroom side of the room. You can see the scrap totes I have on the floor right now that I am just tossing things into at the moment. You get one guess as to what that massive black thing is on top of the table.
The poor Yudu machine which has been neglected for the last couple of months. Right now it has t-shirts on top of it that I plan to put designs on for selling purposes, but I've been too busy to work on them so there they sit.
The dress form tends to migrate around the room. It usually is by the sewing machine but because of the size of Elizabeth it has been put in the corner in front of the tv for now. You can kind of see the new detailing I've put on it in this picture though. I have added embroidery and beads along the ruffle. Those doors are the closet where our winter coats and a good number of my costumes are held. That is also where most of my cosplay accessories are stored, though a fair amount get put under my bed when they are not in use.
This is the view from the closet. You can see the 2nd sewing machine. this was my Grandmother's bernina and is about 30 years old. Still works well and having it there allows me to work on stuff while the embroidery machine is working on stuff.
And those are the pics. Now the vast majority of my costumes are kept in the barn. We have two zip-up "closets" in a weather proof room in the barn. 90% of the costumes are witin these two closests. Also all of the props are in this room some some of my wigs. The rest of the wigs are kept in the laundry room on heads on a shelf that my father created for them. And then those that don't have to be on heads are either kept in the bins with their accessories, in bags in my room, or in my storage chair.
