i've heard that Mulan was actually a general, a reason why her identity was kept secret. also, they did find out she was a girl later on (i read that in the ballad too). this is the first time that i heard she might not be a real person...i've always thought that she was, and from what my parents tell me it seemed real. xD

anyways, nice fic =) i wondered if they cut their hair back then...because cutting hair wasnt a good thing. but i thought about, then how long would their hair grow? >> so maybe they did trim it once in awhile ^^;

Ah yes, I heard the general bit too. But I decided that this would be when she was still a regular soldier (before she got promoted?), so... XD

Yes yes, they did find out later on, but only after her term in the army.

I was extremely shocked as well, to know of the possibility that she might only be a literary figure, and not a historical one.

Hahah, I'd imagine that long hair would be horribly cumbersome in war. And that top-knot can't get too long...
