So I spent another three hours writing, and (while I did write a 500 word alternate scene that was awesome and unusable) I only got about 700 words written. I spent most of the three hours arguing with myself and my friend-cum-editor as to which version of the scene was more appropriate

Actually I think the only reason he gave me options this time was because he didn't know what to do either.

I can totally see him looking at his options and finally looking upward and going, "Hey, I'm throwing this one open to you because I'm stuck!" :)
