Chapter 1 Chapter 2:
A ringing laughter floated down the hallway as Yabu and Takaki walked into the Hey! Say! JUMP dressing room filling the silent room with their lighthearted banter. Yabu took a glance around the room to see if everyone had arrived yet for practice only to glance at the clock. Three thirty, they where early; practice didn’t start until four. Only Keito sat in the corner of the room in a strange position; it looked as if he was testing that one rule that said you can’t lick your elbow.
“Keito, what are you doing?” Takaki asked as he and Yabu made their way over to see what was going on.
His gaze shot up as he shoved his arm behind his back, “Nothing! I’m fine!”
“Keito…” Yabu started as he grabbed Keito’s elbow, pulling his arm back to the front. He hissed in pain as he tried to pull it out of Yabu’s grasp.
“It’s fine! Yabu! Let go…” He struggled for a moment until Yabu’s strength won over his.
“Takaki,” Yabu gazed down at Keito’s elbow, “would you go get the first aid kit?”
Takaki looked down as well to see a penny sized cut on Keito’s elbow, “Whaa…what happened?”
“Nothing! I just tripped… I’m clumsy remember?” Keito said as he tried and failed to pull his arm out of Yabu’s grasp.
“First Aid kit?” Yabu reminded Takaki.
“Oh! Be right back!” Takaki rushed out of the room as Yabu shook his head at Keito.
“Tsk…You have to be more careful.” Yabu said, glancing around the room, “Is anyone else here yet?”
Keito nodded, “Yes, aside from you and Takaki, Hikaru’s here too. He stepped out just before you got here. He said something about a vending machine as he walked out.”
Yabu’s eyes widened in realization, “He did this didn’t he?”
The younger boy looked away, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I tripped remember?”
The leader shook his head, “No Hikaru tripped you didn’t he? He still hasn’t let up on you has he? I can’t believe this; he never used to be like this. It’s been weeks, I’ve given him enough time to be angry. This ends today if I have anything to say about it.”
“But-“ Before Keito could vocalize his rebuttal, Hikaru stepped into the room and took a seat by the door. Completely ignoring the atmosphere in the room he cracked open his soda and sighed in contentment.
Yabu stood up making his way over to Hikaru, “Hey, Hikaru. Care to explain that?” He gestured over to the younger member on the other side of the room.
Hikaru pursed his lips and nodded slowly, “That’s uh…Keito. How to explain… um… he’s human?” He looked up confusedly at Yabu.
Keito giggled childishly while Yabu continued to glare down at Hikaru. “You know what I mean!” How could he act like nothing happened!? “Why are you still picking on Keito? He didn’t do anything to you! I know your still angry, but grow up a little bit!”
As Takaki shuffled back into the room, he saw Yabu harping on Hikaru and put two and two together. He shook his head, “Tsk… Hikaru…” but continued on to Keito who looked worried about the whole situation. Crouching down in front of the younger member Takaki opened the first aid kit and began dressing the cut. Occasionally throwing glares over his shoulder at Hikaru.
Keito just stared at the scene in front of him. He could see Yabu, hands on his hips shaking his head. He could see the anger and frustration on Hikaru’s face. Anyone could see that. But he wondered if anyone else could see the sadness and regret in his eyes. From the way things stood, Keito was sure he was the only one that could. Why couldn’t they just let it be? Couldn’t they see what they were doing to Hikaru? Sure, Keito experienced some physical pain; but he doubted that could amount to the pain Hikaru felt at the moment.
No one else understood the way Keito did, he was sure of it. Hikaru didn’t hate him. He didn’t mean all the nasty things he said under his breath. Keito was just an outlet, something that made him feel a little better after venting his anger on something. Keito supposed he was something akin to a human punching bag. If he couldn’t say anything to help Hikaru feel better, he could just say nothing and take it.
Hikaru was broken, of that Keito was positive. But why couldn’t anyone else see it?
“There! All better!” Takaki patted the younger member’s elbow a bit as he stood back up, “Be more careful now.”
Keito smiled up at Takaki, “Thanks!” Takaki nodded and walked over to Daiki who had arrived with Inoo. Keito looked back over to Yabu in time to see Hikaru stomp out of the room and shove past Nakajima and Yamada. They looked back in confusion but continued on with a collective shrug.
“Hey Keito!” Nakajima greeted as he sat in the chair next to him, “What’s up?”
“Nothing really,” Keito’s eyes drifted back to the door sadly, but shot back to Yuto as his arm was grabbed suddenly.
“What happened?”
Keito glanced down and shrugged nonchalantly, “Nothing much, I just tripped is all.”
“Oh really?” Yamada piped up, “But your bandage looks terrible, who wrapped it?”
Giggling slightly Keito looked over to Takaki who was now sitting with Yabu chatting, “Takaki.”
Yamada looked over his shoulder and nodded, “That sounds about right…”
