I thought this one might be interesting - since it does at least tell you something more about me - albeit tangentially.
Name a CD you own that no-one else on your friends list does:
Anyone else got "
Pictures" by
Caliko? One of my favourite bands of the moment, and I rather wish I was back in the UK and thus able to see them live.
Name a book you own that no-one else on your friends list does:
This should be easier... but I will avoid going for the totally obscure and try something I would actually recommend to anyone to read. Giles Milton's '
Samurai William' is an engaging semi-biographical account of the life of
William Adams in Japan. He was one of the first Englishmen in Japan, and the book tells a fictionalised account of how came to take a Japanese wife (despite having a family in the UK) and become a servant of
Ieyasu (the Shogun). Ieyasu is enshrined in
Nikko - a
day trip from Tokyo (link to
lilitufire's pictures).
Name a movie you own on DVD/VHS/whatever that no-one else on your friends list does:
More tricky - but unless there are too many world cinema fans reading, I doubt anyone has "
L'Appartement" (Dir. Giles Mimouni) on DVD. A stylish thriller from France, which I first saw at the
Renoir cinema in London (probably the place to see French films in London).
Name a place that you have visited that no-one else on your friends list has:
Another easy one -
Sarlande in the north-east of the Dordogne region of France - nearest village to my parent's holiday cottage. Sarlande is known for its
commercial apple growing,
chestnut beer and not much else... Great for getting away from the city - it's not far from sites such as
Jumilhac and is great for foodies like me (Limousin beef, foie gras, etc.) :-)
So, that makes me a Francophile, real-music and obscure film loving, Japanophile, foodie, then...? Any other guesses?
