this one's for the happiness ♥

I have my driver's license, but almost rolled the Jeep coming home from the test, so... we're working on that. Once we have three working vehicles, I'm going to be looking for a job - probably retail, since that's all there is around here.

Here's your official warning: longpost is loooong. D:

- Custody battle was a flawless victory. The papers were signed and everything went through. Miranda is now officially my sister (as well as my niece, and her own mother's sister - holy hell). No fear from DHS anymore, and she's adjusting well. She still calls Mom and Dad 'Nanny' and 'Grandpa,' but she has (and we have) moved on from aunt/niece to just sisters, in terms of how we refer to each other. ♥ Beyond that, it hasn't changed much; she's lived with us since forever, so.

- A few months ago (I can't recall exactly when, now), my dad came down with MRSA. He didn't see a doctor immediately, and ultimately had to have surgery on his leg to clean out the infection site. He was in the hospital for a while. Mom also caught it, but since we had a headstart this time, she basically knocked it on its ass. They're both fine now.

- More recently, though (early October?), I got a staph infection on my left leg. Again, we had a headstart on it, so I'm doing fine. (I didn't see a doctor, either, because I have no insurance - we managed to cope with leftover antibiotics and meticulous care.) The worst part of it for me was that I seem to have developed an allergy to band-aid adhesive, so the area of my leg that was bandaged for three weeks straight has an atrocious rash. That's being dealt with, too, though, through the miracle of lye soap. \o/

- We have a new dog! Just a puppy, really. His name is Bowser, he's about eight months old, and he's a Shar Pei/Lab/????/PROFIT mix. ♥ He's really cute. No, really. ♥ He's a gigantic lap dog, and afraid of his own shadow, and Shoe is fascinated with his tail, which freaks him out. ♥♥♥♥ He might have to have surgery on his eyes in the nearish future; he suffers from mild entropion. Luckily, we have an awesome vet, and this should only cost us $60 - $80. ♥

- Even more recently (a couple weeks ago), I finally got my license. I then proceeded to almost roll the (in my defense, top-heavy and high-torque) Jeep down a steep bank, because I swung a turn too wide on my way into our subdivision when coming back from the road test. I am no longer allowed to drive the Jeep. ;;

- Just this afternoon (so more recently still), my dad came home from work and informed us that his company gave him a 10% payraise, better insurance and brought back 401k matching (essentially another 3% payraise in this case). All in all, we should be saving several thousand dollars on insurance yearly now, on top of his better salary. ♥

- As to the future... we don't have the money to put me through college right now, so once we have three working vehicles (since Mom and Dad both work, and we only have two currently), I'll be setting out to find a job. It'll most likely be retail, since that's all we have around here, especially for someone with no prior experience in anything.

- I also intend to take the admissions test for MENSA as soon as I get the opportunity. I passed the prep test, but I'm not getting cocky, because it's a tight squeeze into the top 2%.

I think that basically sums everything up. As far as the internet goes, you can still find me on Twitter (@tokyocentricity), AIM (tokyocentricity) and Gmail/Gchat (tokyocentricity@gmail). I'm also around GPX+ (Happy Diamonds), Wajas (79013), Aywas (1026) and DragCave (happydiamonds), if anyone on my f'list is familiar. ♥ Feel free to hunt me down.
