Oh Michael Moore you Silly Silly Man.....

So, this week I watched Capitalism: A Love Story because I generally like documentaries and Michael Moore's films are always entertaining even if sometimes a little overloaded in conspiracy logic. Now, I'm rather liberal in my rhetoric, but I'm not one to insist corporate america is taking over the United States government. This is rather the precise arguement stance he takes and while I thought there were great parts of it, I felt overall that this movie was no better at resisting fear tactics than the recent tactics of republican congressmen in regards to health care. It isn't fair, Michael Moore, to say that President Obama is the key to stopping these corporate banks from doing as they please. Pointing blame does nothing but divide us all further. Its easy in a two party system for clear battle lines to be drawn, but sometimes I wish congress would work to actually better the lives of people through cooperation than just fight over idealized party rhetoric.

My only other issue with this flm is there are elements that have been "dumbed down" a bit for general consumption. I don't know everything about economics (though being on UN General Assembly Second Committee has done wonders for that) but there were areas that felt over simplified to me.

Anyway, this film was rather good. I'd say worth spending a otherwise squandered night watching if you're at a loss as to why this economic crisis even happened. It does a really nice job of outlining a timeline of events perhaps in better detail than the news has been able to do.
