I like this poem. But does the flame always have to kill the moth? I'd like to think that the moth may find a flame that won't kill it. A kind of flame that the moth can wrap itself in and be bright and warm always.

It's not that the flame kill the moth, thought it might. The idea is that instead of this constant search for a flame that won't burn the moth, the moth has learned not to fear his death. The moth has learned that even to be near the light for some time and then to pass, is better than to remain in the darkness always yearning for some safe light that may not arrive at the time when he's searching. Eventually, the moth will find the bright and warm light that won't kill, but for now, the both is content in its dealings.
