it probably wouldn't have stopped a bullet unless it was filled with scrap metal. but being in the civil war is a heck of a story by itself. does it have a hole in it?
It doesn't have a hole it has a patch. The patch is *claimed* to be over the bullet hole from the bullet that "didn't kill him" That might not be exactly the same as "the bullet that would have killed him if it didn't strike the violin instead."
Still also in the cool side, and I don't actually know if Aly knows this... said umpty great grandfather played violin in some official military orchestra and he also brought his violin (although not positively this one) with him when he rode the funeral train with the rest of the musicians bringing Lincoln's body off to the final resting place. So one of our relatives played for Lincoln (in some form or another.)
