So

Realplayer is still withholding my music like a stingy ho. It is so not getting an biscuits today.

Also, how would you guys feel about calling me Alys? You know, my name is Alysandra, and it's only one more letter then I'm already using, but I'm kind of feeling the name Alys.

realplayer stupidity, what's in a name?

Alice. Though that confuses me, because when I see 'Alice' I think 'Aleeeess'

The opposite of aleeees

Whatever you'd like.

Is the name to be pronounced like Alice or like Allies or like allies but with the s sounding like an s and not as z like in allies?

Al as in the beginning of Aly, with an iss at the end. The traditional way of pronouncing Alice

I didn't even think to ask last night when you asked me this, but why the change?

I don't know, really. But I'm sorta getting the Alys vibes like woah. Besides, a part of me feels as though I've outgrown Aly.

Hmm. That makes sense; lots of people outgrow their childhood "nickname" the same way.

I think it makes you sound like one of the young witches from Lords and Ladies, i.e. likely to dress up in black lace, incant the Four Powers, and then try to make a love potion out of the bark of the elderflower bush, while talking about mystic balance.

Also, not a huge fan of the "take a normal name and spell it differently so I'm unique" school of names. Don't forget that you're going to spend however long having to tell people it's "Alys-spelled-a-l-y-s".

Not that I have any better suggestions on your name.

Well, I've spent my entire life telling people it's Aly spelled A-l-y. Alys is also the beginning of my middle name, where I derive all nicknames. I would call myself Alice, but my name's not Aliceandra.

Nothing wrong with spelling your short name differently to bits of your full name. The English language is full of differently-spelled diminutives.
